Miss Zimbabwe Beauty Queen 2014, Thabiso Phiri Resigns Over Viral Nude Pics

The reigning Miss ZimbabweThabiso Phiri, who was due to contest the Miss World Pageant in London, has stepped down less than 2 months after clinching her coveted title. The Miss Zimbabwe Trust confirmed the resignation on Friday. The beauty queen is said to have resigned after photographs she took of
herself in the nude went viral on social media in the internet.
Reliable sources said Miss Phiri photographed herself while in the nude and sent the images to her lover, who in turn allegedly leaked them via social media platforms. In one of the photographs seen by The Sunday Mail, the 22-year-old law student features topless.

The circumstances of her resignation were kept under wraps, but it is understood she stepped down to protect the reputation of the Miss Zimbabwe Trust ahead of the Miss World pageant, but would not disclose any further details on the “peculiar and personal” reasons behind the resignation.

In its statement, the Trust said: “Due to circumstances unforeseen at the time of the holding of the Miss Zimbabwe pageant on the 14th of June 2014 and which circumstances are peculiar and personal to the winner of the pageant Miss Thabiso Phiri, it has become imperative after her disclosure of the said circumstances that she steps down as Miss Zimbabwe.
“Miss Phiri has asked for privacy at this time and hopefully this shall be observed by all and sundry in order for her dignity to be respected.”

She is likely to be replaced by first princess, Tendai Hunda.
