The selfie-craze gripping the world saw a tragic couple plunge to their deaths as they tried to pose at the edge of a cliff. The Polish couple fell from a height of 80 metres at Cabo da Roca, on the west coast of Portugal as their horrified children looked on.
Attempts to recover the bodies had to be abandoned on Saturday night as weather conditions on the Atlantic Ocean made the task impossible.
Portuguese authorities are now investigating the incident, although it is believed the couple were taking pictures of themselves when they fell.
The operation restarted on Sunday at around 6.30am and at 7 am, a rescue team made their way to where the couple lay.
The children, aged five and six, are now in the care of Polish diplomats and are currently seeing psychologists after the traumatic event.
Cabo da Roca is a popular destination for tourists in the area and it is the far western edge of Continental Europe.
