Fenerbahce drops Joseph Yobo

Turkish Super Lig club, Fenerbahce, announced yesterday Friday August 29th that they have released Nigeria defender Joseph Yobo. Fenerbahce announced on their official website that due to restriction in the number of foreign players, the club and Yobo had to part ways.

Vanguard reports that the unfortunate incident happened very early yesterday morning, at about 2am. The incidence which put cold shivers on the neighbors and other occupants of the Estate, started with the gunmen, who are suspected to be hired assassins, shooting sporadically into the air after scaling the fence of the building. It was reported that the gate man was held hostage, beaten beyond recognition but later released and was told to leave the environment at once, threatening to kill him if he dares alert the police.

U.S. authorities investigate suspected threat against Obama: reports

Authorities in Connecticut on Friday were investigating a possible threat against President Barack Obama, local media reported.

The U.S. Secret Service, which is responsible for presidential security, issued a statement saying, "Information has been received by law enforcement regarding a potentially suspicious person and vehicle. Florida man caught killing, and eating, threatened tortoises

                               

Wildlife authorities in Florida caught a man who killed and ate 15 gopher tortoises and planned to slaughter 11 more of the threatened reptiles, a spokeswoman said on Thursday.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said a tip-off led an officer to woods in Citrus County on Florida's west coast where he found tire tracks and shells dumped on the ground. Returning the next day, he found a container holding 11 live gopher tortoises.

Arizona man arrested for burning, urinating on Bible

                                

A 22-year-old Arizona man calling himself "Dark Lord" has been arrested for allegedly burning a Bible and urinating on it outside a Christian-oriented homeless shelter in northern Arizona, police said on Friday.

Eric Minerault was booked into the Yavapai County Detention Center late on Thursday on suspicion of one count of unlawful symbol burning stemming from the incident at the Gospel Rescue Mission, Prescott police spokesman Lieutenant Ken Morley said in a written statement.

Private school owners in Lagos State and the Federal Government may clash over the latter’s order directing all primary and secondary schools in the country to resume on October 13, 2014, instead of the anticipated September 15.

Ebola: Dead Port Harcourt doctor’s infected widow moved to Lagos

The infected widow of Dr Iyke Enemoah, the Port Harcourt based doctor who died on Friday August 22nd from Ebola Virus Disease in Port Harcourt Rivers state has been moved to Lagos for proper isolation and treatment. Her 3-months old baby is among the 160 people placed under surveillance in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday August 29th in Port Harcourt, the state Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker, said most of those placed under surveillance at the Port Harcourt Isolation center are medical doctors, nurses and patients Dr Enemoah interacted with at his Samsteel Clinic at Rumuokoro, as well as the Green Hart Hospital where he died.

DailyMail reports Claire Hawker, 30 years old and a single mother, had been recommended the cosmetic surgeon in Prague by a friend and was initially delighted with her new figure. But just days after returning home, her size G breasts started leaking a brown discharge and suddenly burst. 

She was rushed to hospital and surgeons warned the mother-of-two she would die if the implants were not removed immediately. Recounting her experience, Ms Hawker says:

‘I remember feeling scared then angry when I was told my implants would have to be taken out - but I had no choice. I had wanted bigger boobs for almost a decade because they had really sagged after having children. My confidence was rock bottom.'

Ebola Drug Zmapp Confirmed 100% Effective in Treating Infected Monkeys

Hopes of a breakthrough in the fight against Ebola have been raised by the 100 per cent successful treatment of monkeys with the deadly disease. 

According to a new research published in a special report on Nature journal's website, the experimental drug ZMapp cured the animals even when administered five days after infection, while they were displaying severe symptoms. All 18 rhesus macaques made a complete recovery, in contrast to three other untreated monkeys that quickly fell seriously ill and died.

South African Woman Sues Hospital N93m after She Gave Birth to Down's Syndrome Baby

A South African woman is going to the country's constitutional court to claim thousands of pounds in damages after a medical centre failed to diagnose her son with Down's syndrome. 

The woman, identified only as Ms H. to protect the identity of her child, is arguing her son represents a "wrongful life," as she would have aborted the foetus if she had been told by the clinic it was at a high risk of having Down's syndrome. She is seeking £368,742 (N93million) in damages on behalf of her child, who has severe Down's syndrome and needs constant care, according to court documents.

Kidnappers Abduct Dayo Adeneye’s Father in-law, Demand N10m Ransom

Dayo Adeneye’s father-in-law, 74 year-old Chief Nigbenebor has been kidnapped. He was abducted in Benin, and according to his family, the kidnappers are demanding N10million as ransom as against N40million they initially asked for. BH foreign negotiator names Alimodu Sheriff as Boko Haram sponsor

In a recent interview with Arise News TV, Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis, who was hired by the Nigerian government some months back to help negotiate with Boko Haram members to facilitate the release of abducted Chibok girls, mentioned the name of former Borno state Governor, Alimodu Sheriff as a sponsor of the terrorist group, Boko Haram. He also said that an unnamed past Chief of Army Staff who was sacked by Pres. Jonathan was also a sponsor of the group.

In the video released yesterday, Davis was very quick to mention the names of the alleged sponsors.

The Federal Government has reinstated the 16,000 resident doctors it sacked on August 13th. Announcing their reinstatement today August 29th in Abuja, spokesman for the Minister of Health, Dan Nwomeh said the reinstatement became effective Thursday August 28th.

3 hotel staff in Lagos arrested for recording customer’s sex act and blackmailing him with it

Three hotel attendants namely, Sunday Okon, 23; Rita Emmanuiel, 28; and Goodness Akpan 24; all staff of an undisclosed hotel in the Ogudu area of Lagos were yesterday August 28th arraigned before an Ogudu Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly filming a hotel customer's sex act on August 13th and using it to blackmail him.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the three accused persons used the hotel's CCTV to record an unidentified man's sex act with his girlfriend.
