Ebola: Lagos Searches for Passengers on Board with Victim, Patrick Sawyer



       

According to this tweet from NTA's official account, testing on passengers who were on board the flight with Liberian Ebola virus victim has begun. It is feared all passengers on the late Patrick Sawyer's Lagos-bound plane have been exposed to Ebola.

In an attempt to forestall the spread of Ebola virus that claimed the life of a visiting Liberian in Lagos last week, the state government has embarked on a search for those who were on the same flight with the victim.  
Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, said those who travelled with Patrick Sawyer from Lome in Togo to Lagos, are to be questioned and monitored for 21 days.Last week Tuesday, Sawyer was rushed to First Consultant Medical Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, a few hours after his arrival when he started vomiting. The state government kept him under close monitoring until he died at the hospital on Friday. 
 The commissioner, Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina and Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba, during a press briefing, confirmed that the state government has embarked on the search.We are going to trace all of them, each one of them is going to be questioned. There is a protocol they will follow in terms of questioning. They are going to be monitored in the next 21 days to see if any of them has the symptoms,” Idris said.
